Version 1.0 of the Kaleidoscope Scientific Vision is now available for public review at: http://vision.noe-kaleidoscope.org/deliverable/

This site was used as a platform for collaborative authoring of that document. It is retained for archival purposes, and to share our intellectual process with those who find it of interest.

Defining the Kaleidoscope Vision

This website has been set up to support a network-wide iterative and collaborative process of defining the Kaleidoscope vision. The outcome of this process will be a detailed document which will be presented to the European Commission.

The Scientific Vision Statement is a reference document for the Kaleidoscope Network that is changed and developed only under the controlled conditions of the procedure agreed. It should therefore be written in such a way that it can be used for all audiences. However, there may also be a Foreword written, as appropriate to introduce it to different audiences, addressing it to their concerns and interests.

All contributors to the process will be listed alphabetically as joint authors in the final report.

Why now?

After an exciting and productive period of joint explorations, it is time to stop and reflect on the future. Defining a European TEL vision will be our legacy as a research network. It should highlight our contribution as a collective, and set an agenda for the next few years of research.

Why me?

This is your chance to make an impact on the direction European research in TEL takes in the next few years. As an individual, your voice is rarely heard in policy spheres. But as Europe's leading research network in the field, our statement - if well wrought - should have significant impact. The open and egalitarian nature of the Kaleidoscope network, as reflected in the vision process, allows you to make a contribution which is proportional to your insight and effort - rather than your formal status.

What now?

  • Read the aims of this initiative, if you are new to the process.
  • Familiarize yourself with the process and schedule.

Go to the Vision Hyperdocument, select the Section you want to comment on, read the statements, and decide whether you would prefer them to read differently, given the title of that Section. If so, copy and paste them into the message box, edit, and post the message, with a suitable title.

  • Go to the Webinar page to make a note of the time and date so that you can join the discussion.
